Round 1 - World RX of Sweden

Höljes Motorstadion in Sweden is one of the world’s most iconic rallycross tracks, located deep in the Värmland forest not far from the Norwegian border. The circuit opened in February, 1976, with rallycross legend Per Eklund winning the very first event held there in front of 3,500 spectators.

In 1991, Höljes joined the FIA European Rallycross Championship calendar, becoming a permanent round on the schedule eight years later. It has been a popular World Championship fixture ever since the series’ inception in 2014. Known as the ‘Magic Weekend’, the event regularly attracts in the region of 50,000 fans.

From the grid, there is a short run to Turn One – a fast right-hander over a crest – before the cars immediately jink left into Turn Two, which marks the entry to the Joker Lap. Staying on the standard line, another crest precedes a tight and slippery right-hander that leads into the famous, banked ‘Velodrome’ section.

Drivers then speed half-sideways down the gravelly hill, before flicking their cars to the right at the bottom and leaping over the jump that feeds into the last corner – an open, asphalt-coated left-hander that twists round to the finish line.

Round 2 - World RX of Hungary

The legendary Hungarian rallycross circuit Nyirád Racing Center makes its FIA World Rallycross debut in 2024, located just 25 kilometres from Hungary’s famous Lake Balaton.

The circuit, which is located in a pit, is nicknamed “Red Cauldron” due to its distinctive colour of its unsealed surfaces.

The location results in a large difference in level, but it is not only this that represents the serious challenge for the drivers, but also the ratio of the technical turns and the gravel surface to the asphalt.

Nyirádi is one of the earliest built tracks in the country, it hosted a championship race for the first time in 1988, and in 2006, the rallycross and autocross European championship races were held for the first time.

Round 4 - World RX of Portugal

High up in the Vila Real mountains in the north of the country, Portugal’s picturesque and historic Montalegre track formed part of the original FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar back in 2014, and its undulating layout and unpredictable weather has produced many breathtaking battles over the years.

The 945m track is located some 1,000m above sea level, requiring engines to be finely-tuned to deal with the altitude. From a long start/finish straight, drivers brake hard for the first corner – a tight right-hand hairpin – before taking a little bit of kerb as they flick through the left-right chicane that follows.

A fast left-hander then leads downhill into a right as the surface turns from asphalt into the loose and sandy gravel that characterises Montalegre, before a steep uphill climb precedes another left followed by a long, fast right-hander. The final section of the lap is marked by a tricky surface change and a series of chicanes – inviting drivers to brush the barriers on both sides, but without getting too close...
